VW launches its own battery cell pilot line – And AIT Goehner is involved

At the end of September 2019, VW became the first German car manufacturer to open its own battery cell plant in Salzgitter. AIT Goehner supplies the camera system for handling the parts. In this time-critical process, the AIT EasyPro software is also used to centrally control several image processing inspections.

Whether you want to sort rims, shape and position, products or pallets, whether you want to sort empties or check plastic lids on a piecework basis – AIT offers you a solution with which all articles, components or parts are reliably recognised. New parts are quickly created through dynamic teach-in. The data of recognised parts is processed further, e.g. by transferring it to a robot or by comparing it with databases such as SAP.

Is the packaging unit completely filled? Are your workpieces completely assembled? AIT systems enable safe and efficient inspection of all parts and packaging, for example for door latches, grease quantities, latching lugs, during blister assembly, ball bearing inspection or quality control.

For example, AIT systems are used to determine and measure angles in gearbox production, to check the filling openings of plastic bottles or to check the quality of yarn in the textile industry. These are just a few examples of the various uses of AIT systems, which are characterised by very high resolution and measuring accuracy, so that 100% of all parts can be reliably checked for dimensional accuracy. Their advantages lie in the very precise and fast quality control. And all this at very reasonable prices.

To determine the coordinates of non-aligned workpieces, position and rotational orientation – even in motion – are detected very quickly, robustly and accurately. AIT products are the perfect complement for assembly, robotics and handling systems, for example for position detection or control, parts handling or determining the rotational position.

Products are verified, sorted or measured according to their colour edges. Your advantage is the large and flexible inspection area that makes it possible to check products for different colour tones. With AIT systems, you can check, for example, the correct paint finish, the correct cable colours or, in the case of cut control, the edge position of different alloys.

The images of printed and lasered symbols are often subject to quality fluctuations. Even the smallest errors can be reliably detected with AIT systems. The inspection tolerances can be set individually for this purpose. For example, you can check displays for proper function or lasered keys for completeness, correct installation position and line width, or you can check LED light fields for correct light direction.
