AIT ScanTunnel
The AIT ScanTunnel is a fully automated checkout system with no staff required, designed for 24/7 retail environments – developed in cooperation with Wanzl.
Products move on a conveyor belt through the tunnel, where a five-side scanning system reliably captures barcodes (≥ 96% read rate at 0.2 mm module size, installation space 400 × 400 mm), generates the shopping cart, and transfers the data to the ERP system.
An information tower, user interface prompts, and voice announcements guide customers through the process.
Product security is only released after successful scanning, and an alarm is triggered if the checkout area is exited without authorization.
